Welcome!

Glorietta Elementary School is a place of discovery, wonder, joy and fulfillment. It is a place filled with excitement and enthusiasm, a place where children learn in a supportive and nurturing environment through meaningful challenges and inspirational fun. Teachers are experienced and greatly valued, parents are appreciated and involved, and support staff is cherished for their efforts and dedication.

Academic success is achieved through differentiated instruction, frequent monitoring of student achievement, analysis of best practices, and ongoing assistance from our instructional support team. Our District and school site's strategic goals help us align our concerted efforts and enable us to achieve amazing results both in class as well as on standardized tests. We approach teaching as facilitators of learning and focus on continuous improvement in literacy, while maintaining high performance in both math and science. For professional growth, teachers collaborate with colleagues weekly, while District Literacy and Computer Transition coaches support teachers and enrich learning.  Columbia Teachers College staff developers and Andy Schipper, our math consultant work with staff to further advance teacher knowledge and align curriculum and instruction with the new California Common Core Standards.

Enrichment in art, music, and physical education instruction is made possible through the generous donations of our parent community. Ongoing parental support enabled us to purchase computers for our lab, a class set of laptops used by our upper grade students, interactive SMART Boards in all classrooms, and 20 iPads to be piloted in the classroom Fall 2013. Together we continue our commitment of inspiring our enthusiastic 21st century learners!

Beyond the classroom our rich curriculum includes character education, focusing on the values of respect, responsibility, a positive attitude, honesty, empathy, and self discipline. Students receive instruction from trained parent volunteers and teachers using the District adopted Think First, Second Step program, a nationally recognized character education program. Additionally, we cultivate social development through buddy class interactions, monthly community building assemblies, and Peaceful Playground play. Additionally, students have an opportunity to get involved in Student Council, Green Team, our Student Leader and Safety Patrol programs, as well as our Children Helping Children community outreach program.

Glorietta is a caring community that prides itself on rich traditions and academic excellence;
we welcome you and invite you to look within!
