Glorietta's 2017 Science Exploration Event

 

The 4th annual Gopher Science Show-off is an educational forum involving students in the scientific process by inspiring them to think and perform like young scientists. All K-5 students are invited to get involved by completing a scientific experiment, exploration invention, or survey. For event details visit Science Show-Off Guidelines. Group projects will be displayed on Wednesday, March 22nd.

An added attraction will be the return of Glorietta's popular Family Science Night from 5:30-8:00pm.  Exhibitors to include:

  • MAD SCIENCE  – Vortex Generator, Tesla coil demonstrations, non-Newtownian fluid activities, acid/base reactions
  • OAKLAND ZOO  – skull identification activities
  • CAMP EDMO  – LED Glow Stick Light Sabers
  • STEVE AND KATE’S CAMP – bread-making
  • UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BOTANICAL GARDEN  – California Natives (native plants and replicas of artifacts used by CA Indians for food, shelter, clothing, tools, medicine, fiber, tools, music, toys, games)
  • NORCAL BATS – live bats and habitat discussion
  • MT. DIABLO INTERPRETIVE ASSOCIATION – live tarantulas
  • DR. JERRY, ORINDA VETERINARIAN CLINIC – TBD
  • DR. JAY ZIMMERMAN, DERMATOLOGIST – skin cancer slides under microscope
  • EAST BAY ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY – 4- 5 telescopes(showing to begin at dusk-8:30pm)
  • PRECISION XYZ - drone and virtual headset.  Need flatscreen tv, extension cord, table
  • PNEUMATIC ROCKETS – homemade rockets using tank to propel; Bill
